Upon arrival you will be given a standard out-door adventure waiver to read and sign stating that you participate in our dog sledding tours at your own risk. Please note, we do not wear helmets or provide helmets to our guests, because we drive on trails not on public roads and are traveling at slower speeds. Please let us know if you have any medical problems or physical restrictions.
You can pay for the tour by credit card, debit or cash. Please come dressed as warmly as possible and we will provide additional high quality outdoor clothing as needed.
We will brief you and then you will be all set to go!
The Arctic Loon cabin is a destination for snowmobiling and can be done either as a day trip or as an overnight excursion. Although this cabin is totally off the grid it is comfortable and warm. The cabin is large enough to accommodate couples or groups of up to 6 people overnight. This cabin is not available as a rental cabin on its own. It is always part of a guided package tour.

Tour length is: 2 half days with an overnight (Monday to Friday) Not available on Saturdays or Sundays. The cabin is located 17 kilometres from the Arctic Chalet.
This tour starts around 2 pm from the Arctic Chalet. You will travel for about one hour by snowmobile on a scenic trail to the Arctic Loon Cabin. At this wonderfully secluded retreat you can unwind and connect with nature. The cabin is fully off the grid without running water, but is very comfortable. A hot water supply is always available on the wood stove. It has two small bedrooms with a bunk bed in each and a large bedroom with a double bed. Warm bedding is provided and the cabin is equipped with a nice kitchen and an indoor toilet "honey bucket" - No outhouse! A generator supplies electricity and the kitchen has propane appliances.
At the cabin you can enjoy a hot dinner and relax with some of our great northern books by the wood stoves where you have a nice view of the lake and surrounding hills. If skies are clear, you will have a good chance to see the spectacular Aurora Borealis away from all city lights. At this place there is zero light pollution!
The next morning you will enjoy a pancake breakfast and then your guide will take you on a one-hour snowshoe walk on a most scenic trail in the surrounding hills that will take you through a "winter wonderland". After snowshoeing and lunch you will prepare for the return trip to the Arctic Chalet.
Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions. Olav & Judi are whole food plant-based vegetarians, non-smokers and non-drinkers. Please do not bring alcoholic beverages to the cabin.

Drive a snowmobile to our secluded Arctic Loon Cabin for a light lunch by the fireside. The guided trip is about 1 hour travel time each way through beautiful scenery. If you would like to do some snowshoeing, we can add that on to this tour. We maintain some very scenic snowshoe trails in the surrounding hills for those who love to walk and explore nature close up.

*You will be given a snowmobile to drive yourself with a guide leading or you can opt to ride double with a staff member. A short briefing on how to safely drive a snowmobile is included. We do not use public roads or travel at high speeds. Therefore we do not provide helmets.
*Note: We do not rent out snowmobiles on their own.
Pay a deposit when you book your package and the balance owing 30 days ahead of your tour date. Deposit is 50% refundable up to 30 days ahead or your tour date and tour package price paid 30 days ahead is not refundable if you decide to cancel your tour within the 30 day period.
